Last night, I went to google (iGoogle on my home machine) to read gmail. I got the message, "Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site
http://www.google.com. Operation aborted" Same message this morning on my work computer. I have just installed an update to IE on both machines, though iGoogle continued to work immediately after the install. Restarting doesn't help. THe google search bar remains active on IE, allowing me to use Google search, and the search page that opens lists gmail and google calendar, etc So I can get my e-mail that way. However, any attempt to go to Google directly crashes IE.
Hey, if you clear your cookies etc it should log you out of igoogle (allowing you access to google) i know it's not the perfect solution but it's one that will stop it from crashing... This is as long as you can open IE without it crashing...
To do this:
- Click Tools->Internet Options
- In the General Tab click "Delete..." under the browsing history area
- In the dialogue box that pops up click delete cookies.
Interesting -same problem croipped up for me today --page partially loads then error is posted
Unable to load web site:
http://www.google.com/ig?hl=en then screen goes to the
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error page
perhaps last nights IE 7 Windows Update unfixed something -- no problem -qucikly switched to Firefox and went right on working.
