I just helped a customer pick out and buy this beautiful little HP laptop (dv2940se, amd 64-x2 turion tl-62, 4gb ram, 320gb hd, 14.1" screen) on the condition that I perform the service of rolling it back to Windows XP.. which is a maneuver I've done on other laptops with success. I booted it up in Vista to write down some of the main device drivers from the horse's mouth, and managed to find most of them - graphics, wireless, lan, modem, chipset, etc. - but I'm having a hard time getting any kind of xp-compatible drivers for the proprietary stuff such as the HP media remote control, bluetooth, TV tuner, and quick launch buttons..
This laptop is FREAKING GORGEOUS, but it would be even more beautiful with one of my pretty little custom nLite-made xp-cd's with all the drivers and their key integrated.. so I don't need the rigmarrole on how-to, just the links is fine.. let me know if you want any more details on the parts.
Any help with this would be mucho appreciado, as it is most frustrating running up against the official anti-xp support embargo again and again. I think somebody should up and subpoena the fskers, personally... that would light a firecracker under their collective buttoces.

If you click on XP you can get the quicklaunch buttons drivers there.
I examine the Vista driver file for the TV tuner and it seems to be for the Hauppauge WinTV 885 (based on the Connexant CX23885 chip).
You can try two things: install the Vista driver (not sure if it'll work, but that's something to try). Or else go here
http://www.hauppauge.com/site/suppor...t_pci_881.html The problem with the second solution is it doesn't state anything about what OS(es) are supported, and it seemed originally designed for the 881 (which I think is a PCI board) - but it does say 88x, so I assume it should work with any from the same family (I looked closer at the driver file and it states the same connexant chip). Also note the driver from hauppauge is a tad older than the one provided by HP (2005 vs. 2007)
You're right about the network card drivers not being included for XP nor Vista. They might be bundled with the Vista OS, so HP didn't bother putting a download.
However the service guide says it's a Marvell E8039 card.
Go to
http://www.marvell.com/ and click on drivers at the very top.
On the second section (select your Marvell part number) select 88E039 then click submit.
It will list a bunch of packages (I hate vendors that put all their drivers is single packages, but that's just the way Marvell operates I guess...)
Just grab either
"Win 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008 x86 and x64 Multi-Language Installer (32- and 64-bit) for Yukon Devices" (1.16MB and has a setup.exe file) or
"Windows XP/Server 2003 x86 Driver (32-bit) for Yukon Devices v10.64.2.3" (smaller and tidier at 457KB, but manual installation (have to use device manager and point to the folder you extract this to)).
Note: I have a Marvell gigabit ethernet port on my motherboard, and from time to time I do reformats, and I have to reinstall the driver for it. The manual installation has never failed me. However there was
one instance when the setup program didn't work. No matter how many times I ran it, it would go to the end and tell me the program didn't install successfully and exit. I can't say if it was the specific version I downloaded that day, or if something was set up differently, but I just thought you should know it happened.
Also, the XP32 audio shows up as 'Conexant HD-Audio SmartAudio 221' where the Vista32 was showing up as 'Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221' ... Little discerning thing that might be a giveaway for others going through this process with XP downgrades. It seems that it's only if you're trying to install 64-bit drivers on the 32-bit platform that it'll tell you there's a conflict with whatever platform you are using.
The remote seems to be working just fine - has functionality outside of quickplay and media center apparently - I was using the arrow keys to highlight desktop icons earlier... though obviously that's not the designed application, I know it works. I'm guessing the drivers were with the HP integrated bluetooth module or the HP quickset (which also works btw)..
I just finished off by burning the final collection of drivers (just over 600mb, an epic spread..) to a cd using the laptop.
