just built a machine and all working great, apart from I can't see my LG GSA H55N DVD Writer anywhere in windows. I can see it in the BIOS set up and used it to load XP onto the machine. The drive has power and is connected to the IDE cable from the motherboard. I have tried to find it in My Computer Disk management, and device manager but no luck. Also changed the jumper from master to cable select that someone suggested.
When the machine fires up it comes up with a line from Jmicron.com which lists the drive, so I got drivers from them thinking it might be that but still no luck, and I missing some setting in the BIOS or do I need IDE drivers.
Well after a lot of messing about last night, i uninstalled the IDE controller and switched to RAID setting on BIOS and re-booted and it started to detect IDE devices and hey presto there was the DVD drive and the controllers...... weird
